The B Team!

By Jessica Forbes on January 26, 2015

Have you heard of the incredible B Team? Having only just come across it myself I am inspired by the efforts of the movement to change how the world does business and switch from ‘Plan A’ to ‘Plan B’ where it’s priorities are People, Planet and Profit (just like ORB!). The movement was Co-Founded by Richard Branson with a team made up of Global Business Leaders with a vision where the purpose of business is to become a driving force for social, environmental and economic benefit. It’s a big challenge but it has to be started somewhere and so far it looks set to take on the world by storm!

The B Team have 10 main challenges that are listed below-

1. Lead for the long run

2. Value diversity

3. Reinvent market incentives

4. Foster collaboration

5. Drive full transparency

6. Create thriving communities

7. Scale true accounting

8. Restore nature

9. Redefine reward systems

10. Ensure dignity and fairness

Each challenge will be difficult in itself, let alone all 10 at once but the movement has already shown to have had an effect on businesses over the world for the better. With many business leaders backing The B Team and agreeing that ‘Plan A’, where profit is the only focus, is unacceptable it is clear that there will be big things for this movement in 2015!

The Team, just to name a few…

Sir Richard Branson – Co Founder and Co Chair The B Team

Arianna Huffington – Chair, President and Editor in Chief The Huffington Post Media

Blake Mycoskie – Founder and Chief Shoe Giver Toms

Paul Polman – CEO Unilever

Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland – Deputy Chair The Elders

The Team are determined to show the way and change the how and why we do business for the benefit of everyone on a global scale.

For more information on The B Team they have a great website which highlights what they plan to do and why this is a much needed change in society.
