BRITISH SAFETY COUNCIL IOSH MANAGING SAFELY E-LEARNING COURSE

The British Safety Council has launched the e-learning version of the well established IOSH Managing Safely course. The course, which is intended for managers and supervisors in all organisations across all sectors, provides delegates with sufficient knowledge to be able to manage health and safety issues in their workplace.

Managing SafelyThe course, which can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the internet, includes an introduction to health and safety management, the identification of hazards, assessing and controlling risks, understanding your responsibilities, investigating accidents and incidents and measuring performance. It also includes a session on environmental management, specifically the control of waste and pollution.

Upon completion of the course delegates who go on to successfully complete both the practical and written assessments will be awarded a certificate from IOSH.

The course costs just £250 + VAT, and has been quality-controlled by IOSH, the biggest professional health and safety body in the world.

Andy McEwan, facilities manager at The Schools Network, was one of the first people to complete the British Safety Council’s IOSH Managing Safely e-learning course. He says he found the course straightforward and the flexibility of it was great because he could fit it in around his lifestyle and work commitments.

The learning style suited me because I could do the course units and the preparatory reading when it was convenient for me. I could sit on a train and read through the units before attempting the assessments. It was a good way of studying rather than having to take two days out to attend a course.”

Andy adds: "I’ve never attempted an e-learning course before, I’ve always attended face-to-face classroom-based courses, so it was a new experience for me, but I would be quite happy to do another e-learning course in the future based on this experience.”

The British Safety Council has also launched an e-learning version of IOSH Working Safely, a highly popular introductory course designed to help workers in any industry or business sector to understand their health and safety responsibilities.
